Its a tough choice, no doubt about that.
Having been a family man when we were doing the whole day, switching to half a day did make things a little easier. But, 4-5years ago, we had at least 60 teams playing, 5 divisions with all spots filled. That usually meant there were around 400-500 people milling around at a single tourney. So, yeah, it was a very social event and with so many teams, it had to be all day.
Now, we run half days, but that doesn't stop you from staying all day if you wish. I usually play one session and if I feel the need to play, will pimp myself out for the other session, so there is always chance to play or just kick back with some mates. Secondly (and no offence here), the amount of teams playing has dropped dramatically, especially around the beginning and end of the season, so half days do seem the way to go. If the number of teams increased, then maybe extend back to full days. But that has a critical mass based on finances and lets not forget, this is a business.
So, which way to go.....not really my choice, I would like to see the old days of 60 teams again but until we do, I am happy with half days.
